"Deeper Underground" de Jamiroquai

Hacía tiempo que no ponía una cancioncilla por aquí y me apetecía que fuera una que he escuchado varias veces durante las pasadas Navidades. Resulta que he ido varias veces a una tienda muy curiosa que hay en Madrid (creo que también en Valencia) que se llama Popland. Bueno, de hecho hay dos (una cerca de la estación de metro de Moncloa y otra de la de San Bernardo) y por las dos he pasado en busca de regalos originales y divertidos, ya que se trata de sitios en los que hay objetos nostálgicos de cultura pop (camisetas, tazas, bolsos, láminas, pins, etc.), sobre todo de los años 80 (los mejores del mundo mundial, sin duda, jajaja). El caso es que, durante esa búsqueda de posibles regalos, habré escuchado la canción no menos de 5 veces, siempre en una de las dos tiendas madrileñas, y la tengo metida en la cabeza desde entonces....Aunque en realidad la tengo asociada a un momento especial.

Cuando estuve en Irlanda en 1998, durante mes en el que cumplí 17 años, dentro de las numerosas actividades que teníamos fuera del horario de clases de inglés al que asistíamos estaba la de ir al cine. En aquel verano estrenaron una superproducción que resultó un fracaso, "Godzilla", y que yo vi en primera fila (parecía que el monstruo me tocaba) y cuya canción principal era esta "Deeper Underground" del grupo británico de acid jazz Jamiroquai. La banda inglesa, liderada por el curioso Jay Kay, siempre me ha parecido que tenía canciones con un ritmillo especial, con tonadillas de esas que, aunque no te sepas la letra, terminas tarareando tiempo después de las hayas oído. La canción de hoy es justo una de esas, puede que el motivo de la misma sea un bodrio de película (no lo niego) pero a mí me mola un montón. Como siempre, pongo un par de vídeos (los videoclips de estos tipos siempre han molado mucho) y la letra después.
